Instructional Review Specialist

This is a part-time position located in Tennessee.



D2D is a team of educators that supports districts in working together to help students learn more and at higher levels. Our mission is to provide small school systems with actionable support to improve instruction.


The Position

The Instructional Review Specialist will play a critical role in supporting our district support work. The ideal candidate possesses deep instructional knowledge and experience with the Instructional Practices Guide (IPG) or other walkthrough and evaluation tools. The candidate should be comfortable working with districts and teachers across the state in different types of settings.



  • Go through the Instructional Review training process, which will involve:
    • Virtual or in-person training sessions facilitated by D2D staff on the IPG, classroom observations, and student work review
    • Scoring calibration assignments
    • Accompanying D2D staff on reviews as an observer-in-training
  • Be deployed on D2D baseline, follow-up, and snapshot Instructional Quality Reviews as a K-12 ELA or K-12 math observer, which will involve:
    • Pre-trip coordination with the district’s Director of Instructional Support (DIS) to prepare you for the observation
    • Travel to and from the district, on your own
    • Serving as an observer throughout the review, which can last half a day up to two days
    • Post-trip artifact review and follow-up with observed teachers, as needed
  • Coordinate travel and support for reviews with D2D staff, as necessary



  • At least 5 years teaching experience in math or ELA; school leadership experience is a plus
  • Deep content knowledge in 3-12 ELA and/or K-12 math
  • Knowledge of state standards and ability to recognize standards-aligned instruction when you see it
  • Must be available for up to two reviews per week throughout the school year

This position is based in Tennessee (anywhere in the state). Instructional Review Specialists must have their own transportation and availability to drive up to 6 hours away to districts. Some overnight travel may be required. D2D will reimburse all transportation costs.



Instructional Review Specialists are paid at a competitive rate of $500 per day for in-person work and $50 per hour for virtual work. Benefits and healthcare are not included.
